We would like to brighten a senior’s day by introducing a community service project, ‘Canes for a Change’. It is a way for our community to interact with seniors and people with mobility challenges in a safe manner to exchange their old, worn out, unsafe cane for a brand new one, absolutely FREE.

The mission

In a world that often moves at a fast pace, it’s easy to take simple things for granted. For many, the ability to walk independently is one such overlooked privilege. Recognizing the importance of mobility and the impact it can have on someone’s life, BC Medequip is proud to support a community initiative, Canes for a Change. This initiative is aimed at supporting those in need of a cane to prevent the risk of falling and injury.

C4AC invited individuals to exchange their old canes for brand new ones, free of charge. By doing so, they not only ensure that those in need receive a vital tool for improved mobility, but we also promote sustainability by recycling old canes to give them a new life.

The impact

This initiative goes beyond the physical act of providing canes. It’s about giving people the confidence to move independently, enabling them to participate more fully in their communities. The ripple effect of improved mobility can be seen in enhanced mental and emotional well-being, increased social interactions, and a greater sense of inclusion.

Our Role

By supporting an initiative that provides canes to those in need, we want to promote accessibility and better health outcomes in the community. Improved mobility can positively impact individuals’ overall well-being, enhancing their quality of life.

We want to help get brand new canes into the hands of those in the community who need them the most. This group includes those who may not have easy access to such equipment, those with mobility challenges, or financial challenges.

We are committed to environmentally conscious practices, resonating positively with a community that values sustainability as we assist in the recycling process of the old, traded-in canes.

Together, we can create a community where everyone walks with dignity, independence, and the support they deserve. Let’s take this journey together – because at BC Medequip, we believe that walking together makes us stronger.
